During her career she represented England and Great Britain at competitions including the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, British, European and World Championships, all while balancing her studies as a sports scholar.

Dr Amy Whitehead initially used and developed ‘Think Aloud’ as part of her PhD, looking at how Golfers make decisions. This led her to develop a course which supports sports coaches development, which was initially funded by LJMU, and delivered to a number of coaches at St Helens Rugby League Club.
