5. Lecturer’s new book examines security at sports mega-events amid the pandemic

   International Relations and Politics with Sociology Lecturer, Dr Jan Ludvigsen, shared insights from his book this week with the LJMU community ahead of its release on Friday 8 April.

6. Gold award for support of the Armed Forces community at LJMU

   LJMU has received a gold award from the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) acknowledging how it provides support to the Armed Forces community.

7. Obesity rising faster in rural areas than cities

   Obesity is increasing more rapidly in the world’s rural areas than in cities, according to a new study of global trends in body-mass index (BMI).

8. Your LJMU, Your Voice: staff survey findings

   The results of the Your LJMU, Your Voice staff survey reveal that employees consider LJMU to be a good place to work but there are clear areas for improvement. More than 1,400 staff – over 53% of our workforce – took part in the survey in May to help the university learn more about the experience of working here.

9. First appointment for new Jockey Nutrition and Welfare PhD

   A PhD co-funded by the British Horseracing Authority and LJMU will commence in October with a full-time three year role for Daniel Martin from the Professional Jockeys Association’s Nutrition Team.

10. Praise for LJMU’s support of care leavers from Minister for Higher and Further Education

    LJMU deserves the highest praise for their success according to the Minister for Higher and Further Education, after it was the first of only four institutions to be awarded the National Network for the Education of Care Leavers (NNECL) Quality Mark.
