1. Alumnus wins coveted poetry prize

   We’re thrilled to learn that one of our Creative Writing graduates, Callan Waldron-Hall, was recently recognised for his outstanding writing at the Poetry Business New Poets Prize.

2. Christmas closure and support services over the festive break

   The university will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January. The Student Life Building will be open 24/7 throughout the festive break including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

3. Public Health Institute and Drama students create educational film on gang-related violence

   LJMU Drama students have joined forces with LJMUs Public Health Institute to create an educational film helping NHS staff deal with the consequences of gang-related violence in hospitals.

4. Student Spotlight: Abbie Romano

   The representations of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) roles is improving, but there’s work to be done. As of 2018, WISE Campaign (Women into Science and Engineering) announced that the UK is on track to have one million women working in the field by 2020. These statistics are encouraging, and demonstrate an improvement in opportunities shown to young women who pursue the career path.

5. Liverpool John Moores University signs up to NW’s £54m ‘Hollywood’ plan

   Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has been confirmed as the education partner at the much-anticipated Littlewoods Film and TV Studios being developed in the city by CAPITAL&CENTRIC with Liverpool City Council.

   Former LJMU Sport Scholar Nikita Parris will play as a forward with the Lionesses as they bid to win the UEFA Womens Euro 2022 tournament

8. Are you ready for National Student Money Week?

   During week commencing Monday 3 February 2020, LJMU will be taking part in National Student Money Week. The theme for this year is 'Spend Healthy, Live Healthy: Sustainable Money' and during the week we will focus on reducing waste and saving money.

9. School of Law debates Ukraine invation

   The School of Law held a discussion day on Tuesday on Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine for people to learn more about the legal context of the war.
