1. Open Research Week 2022

   Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Liverpool and Edge Hill University libraries are delighted to announce our programme for Open Research Week 2022, taking place from 14th-17th February 2022. There are 8 events over 4 days. All will take place over Microsoft Teams and each session can be booked individually. All events will be recorded; if you are unable to attend but are interested in the content, please sign up and the recording will be sent out to you in due course.

2. LJMU welcomes former Chief Constable as new lecturer in policing and leadership

   LJMU has welcomed former Lancashire Constabulary Chief Constable Steve Finnigan CBE to teach the next generation of police leaders, at the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies.

3. Winning night for students at Patient Experience Network National Awards 2024

   Students from across Health were celebrated at the Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA2024) this October.

4. Breaking Ground

   ‘Breaking Ground’ saw internationally-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind discuss the inspiration behind some of the world’s most iconic buildings, including the reconstruction of the World Trade Center, the Jewish Museum in Berlin and Manchester’s Imperial War Museum.

5. The solution from the skies to save endangered species

   Read more about the world’s first astrophysics-ecology drone project, which could be the answer to many global conservation efforts.

6. Electric racing cars to robotics: Chancellor inspired by FET students' latest work

   LJMU Chancellor Nisha Katona has caught up with students from LJMU’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology to hear about their latest work and research.

7. Your new Staff Governor Emily Walker

   Following a fortnight-long election period, Emily received the majority of votes out of the five self-nominated candidates to represent Professional Services, and will now serve on the Board for the next three years.

8. Report launched on state of the city region

   The opportunities and challenges presented by Liverpool City Region's devolution deal have been outlined in a major new report produced by LJMU and the University of Liverpool.

9. Bronze award for support of the Armed Forces

   LJMU has received the bronze award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) acknowledging how we provide support to the Armed Forces community.

10. Staff and students support Whitechapel Centre’s Christmas Appeal

    Whitechapel and LJMU are working together to bring some much needed comfort to homeless people during the forthcoming festive season.
