Steven is a Client Systems Engineer with LJMU’s Information Technology Services. He started his career in Professional Services as an apprentice before eventually gaining a degree - the first person in his immediate family to do so. With a full circle view of how the university works, Steven embodies our student focussed approach.
Helen is an LJMU science graduate who has gone on to have a very different but an amazing career in the creative industry as well as a stint at Liverpool Football Club managing former player relations.
Bryan is the Director of Bluecoat, Liverpool’s contemporary Arts centre, a working home for artists, and a place where audiences can experience art in new ways. As a fine art graduate of the polytechnic, he never imagined he’d one day be running one of Liverpool’s oldest and most well-known galleries.
Razvan embraced university life during his policing studies degree, having moved to the UK from Romania and being inspired by a coffee shop customer to work in the world of policing. He was a Student Advocate, supporting others to get into higher education and will now go on to serve with Merseyside Police taking his learned experience, and compassion for others, into his career.
Ave is undertaking her master’s in pharmacy at LJMU and is one of thousands of students who travel from different parts of the UK to study in Liverpool.
Rachael is the Principal and Chief Executive at Hugh Baird College. She is passionate about post-16 education and was inspired to study at LJMU thanks to her own school PE teacher. She is incredibly student focused, ensuring that young people and adults from Merseyside can gain better skills which will enable them to seek out better lives.
Jane was a student at the F.L. Calder College of Domestic Science, one of LJMU’s historic colleges, where she qualified as a teacher. She went on to teach at schools in Wales thanks to a personal reference from Fanny Calder herself. Records from her life help to tell the significant history of LJMU as an institution that supports the training of teachers, always placing importance on providing education for all. Izzy worked within LJMU’s Corporate Communications team as a graduate intern. She began her internship during the university's Bicentenary year in 2023, working on projects to celebrate the milestone anniversary and to engage with students. She graduated from LJMU in 2023 with an MSc in Forensic Anthropology.
Hannah is an impressive LJMU alumni and former British gymnast turned coach and now mother. During her career she represented England and Great Britain at competitions including the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, British, European and World Championships, all while balancing her studies as a sports scholar.
Lucy is an alumnus of our MBA programme and is now the strategic relations lead for place with Liverpool City Council. Alongside her studies, Lucy was part of the team that supported the mayoral campaign for Joanne Anderson, who became the first directly elected Black woman to take on the position, while overcoming personal challenges to still gain a first-class degree.
