  1. Intelligence and surveillance

    The Public Health Institute's data collection and monitoring systems support public health reporting. Our surveillance systems include: Integrated Monitoring System, Trauma and Injury Intelligence Group, HIV Surveillance and the Drug Interventions Programme.

  2. Study Postgraduate Public Health

    From the effects of global pandemics to issues such as health inequalities and the impact of drugs and alcohol on communities and individuals, the study of public health is one that affects all of us.

  3. Environment and sustainability

    At the Public Health Institute we provide advice to policymakers in consideration of the relationship between the environment and public health. Projects include: the use of parks, climate change, economic benefits of green infrastructure and evaluation of green projects for the community.

  4. Liverpool Health Commission

    Liverpool Health Commission is an independent body supported by LJMU which has been set up to investigate and analyse health care policy issues, with the aim of making practical and realistic recommendations to assist policymakers.

  5. Drugs

    Public Health Institute provides insight into drug use. We support evidence based drugs policy through epidemiology, monitoring, evidence review, intervention evalution and research.

  10. Violence and unintentional injury

    As a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Violence Prevention, the Public Health Institute works to support effective violence prevention by helping partners understand the impacts of violence, identify risk groups, choose preventative measures and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
