1. Family judge for Cheshire and Merseyside hosts first LAC public debate event

   Her Honour Judge Margaret de Haas QC hosted the first public debate held by LJMU’s Legal Advice Centre, which focused on the legal rights of grandparents.

2. LJMU receives Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and National Teaching Fellowship

   LJMU is one of 15 teams to win the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) and an LJMU academic has also been awarded one of 54 National Teaching Fellows (NTF). Dr Philip Denton, Principal Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, is the recipient of the NTF and the paramedic team at LJMU’s Schools of Nursing and Allied Health received the CATE.

3. Accolades for students at Graduate Fashion Week

   BA Fashion Design and Communication students have been making their mark in the fashion industry with their collections at Graduate Fashion Week. A fantastic number of students were shortlisted for prestigious awards and two won their categories.

4. Encouraging more girls to become involved in biomechanics

   In celebration of National Biomechanics Day 2023 (Wednesday 5 April), the Biomechanics Research Group within LJMU’s School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, delivered an exciting, fun-filled, activity packed event with schoolgirls from a Liverpool primary school.

   In a message to all students, Vice-Chancellor, Ian Campbell, reflected on the killing of George Floyd and what it means for us at LJMU.

6. Masters in Art and Design Degree Show: Class of 2020 show their enterprise

   Around 40 students will exhibit their ideas from MA courses in Fine Art, Graphic Art and Illustration, Art in Science, Fashion Innovation and Realisation and Exhibition Studies.

7. Supporting Science and Engineering Innovation

   LJMU has received a £5 million share of HEFCE’s £200 million funding scheme to support an increase in high-quality science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students.

8. Next phase of CourseLoop set to go live

   The second phase of LJMU’s new curriculum management system is poised to go live and there will be temporary changes in how staff update their course information.

    Forensic anthropologist and mind illusionist, Dr Matteo Borrini, demonstrates the techniques that psychics use to make people believe in paranormal powers.
