   Tim Nichol met with the Prime Minister of Vietnam at the weekend as LJMU sealed a partnership with one of the country's up-and-coming universities.

   Using the latest imaging technology, researchers have revealed more information about a prehistoric mammal, previously thought to be an elephant-sized, moose-like creature, which was actually a close relation to modern-day giraffes.

4. A life of action

   The life of Eleanor Rathbone (1872-1946) was the subject of the latest Roscoe lecture, delivered by Dr Susan Cohen at St George’s Hall to mark the start of a year in celebration of her life. An audience of over 1,000 were given an insight into the achievements of this extraordinary Liverpool citizen who, born into a life of wealth and privilege, used her influence and position in society to campaign for social justice and dedicated her entire life to the service of others.

5. Senior Lecturer secures BA Skills Innovator Award

   Senior Lecturer in Humanities and Social Science, Dr Ojo Adegbola, has won a coveted British Academy Skills Innovator Award.

   A new exhibition at LJMU’s John Lennon Art and Design Building creates an ‘average’ face of The Beatles, and highlights the similarities of the Fab Four.

7. "Girls are good enough" – says LJMU student fighting for more women to enter STEM professions

   The UK's percentage of female engineers in the UK is far lower than other developed countries, according to a recent report by the Royal Academy of Engineering, with women only making up a small fraction of the nation's engineering graduates.

10. Chief Constable of Merseyside Police joins LJMU

    Sir Jon Murphy, the Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, who retires this month after a career of more than 40 years as a serving police officer, is to join LJMU’s Centre for Advanced Policing Studies as Professor of Advanced Policing Studies.
