1. Work starts on new student spaces

   In January 2015 Library Services piloted the use of a reading list management system, Rebus:List with 27 academics across the University with a soft launch that Summer.

   Liverpool John Moores University has a new leader at the helm, sport scientist Ian Campbell.

4. Researching the kingfisher’s iconic hydrodynamic design

   Renowned for their noiseless dive, the kingfisher’s iconic beak-shape has inspired the design of high speed bullet trains. Now scientists have tested beak-shape among some of the birds’ 114 species found world-wide, to assess which shape is the most hydrodynamic.

5. Transatlantic research partnership in the arts

   LJMU’s School of Art and Design has agreed a five-year partnership with Transart Institute in New York City, which will see the two organisations offer a joint transdisciplinary doctoral programme from summer 2020. The aim of the programme is to create an exchange in research areas including contemporary art, art history, curating and exhibition studies, digital culture and technology.

6. New book aims to promote gender equality and celebrate inspirational women in Nepal

   An online book, which aims to change the narrative of women in Nepal and celebrate those who have inspired positive change has been created to help shape research and development projects in low and middle income countries.

7. New animation brings ‘the Greatest Scot of all time’ Robert Burns back to life

   The team at LJMU Face Lab have created a ground-breaking new animated facial reconstruction of Robert Burns.

8. The University Funded Diversity and Inclusion Scheme research initiatives announced

   After consideration of all applications to the University Funded Diversity and Inclusion Scheme, the projects to receive funding have been announced.
