   Following a recent review of LJMU staff car parking provision, the university will continue to subsidise staff car parking until 31 August 2023.

4. Astrophysics Research Institute PhD student receives only UK award from NASA

   LJMU has the highest number of Hubble Fellowships in the UK, as one of their latest awards goes to an Astrophysics Research Institute student straight out of her PhD. Dr Emma Beasor was also the only UK student awarded a Fellowship this year.

5. LJMU presented with gold award for support of the Armed Forces community

   The university was officially presented with the award at a ceremony at the city’s Liver Building.

7. Liverpool 5G Create project wins £4.3m funding from UK govt

   A project to deliver digital services to sick and elderly people in Liverpool has won £4.3million from the UK government.

8. Researching the kingfisher’s iconic hydrodynamic design

   Renowned for their noiseless dive, the kingfisher’s iconic beak-shape has inspired the design of high speed bullet trains. Now scientists have tested beak-shape among some of the birds’ 114 species found world-wide, to assess which shape is the most hydrodynamic.

9. Applications for Discovery Internships for level 5 and 6 students now open

   The final round of paid Discovery Internships for this academic year, which are all sustainability themed, are open for applications now from second and final year (level 5 and 6) students.

10. LJMU and LCR collaboration creates 44 apprentices for autism charity

    LJMU has collaborated with LCR to transfer £132,000 of unspent Apprenticeship Levy to Autism Initiatives, funding 44 new apprentice care workers for the charity.
