  1. Arthur Hyatt (1939-2022)

    As a craft, design and technology student of the then Liverpool Polytechnic in the 1980s, Arthur designed a special mace for use at graduation ceremonies and became the first mace bearer.

    Nick is a chef turned schoolteacher turned philanthropist who credits the care and guidance he received from his lecturers at LJMU as the inspiration for his own teaching career and charitable endeavours.

    LJMU in the Community is an outreach initiative based in the community of L8 designed to support access to Higher Education through student-led sessions, talks and events, as well as tailored admissions, personal statement and student finance support.

  4. Bryan Biggs

    Bryan is the Director of Bluecoat, Liverpool’s contemporary Arts centre, a working home for artists, and a place where audiences can experience art in new ways. As a fine art graduate of the polytechnic, he never imagined he’d one day be running one of Liverpool’s oldest and most well-known galleries.
