1. Graduation review: Thursday 21 November 2019

   Day two of graduation week saw more than 750 students receive their awards across two ceremonies at Liverpool Cathedral.

2. In memoriam: Professor David R. Burton

   It is with great sadness that the university has learned of the passing of Professor David R. Burton.

3. Vaping not permitted in LJMU buildings

   This is a reminder that vaping is not permitted in any building at Liverpool John Moores University.

4. One of only eight universities to secure prestigious international funding

   LJMU has been awarded approximately £490,000 from Research England’s first ever International Investment Initiative (I3). The award has been jointly made to LJMU and The University of Western Australia (UWA) for the international collaboration project, i-CARDIO. The project has a dual focus; the first component is the delivery of workshops to develop innovative ways to detect cardiovascular diseases for preventative intervention using imaging techniques. The second element is the evaluation of Australia’s model of accreditation of clinical exercise scientists and physiologists. The accreditation incorporates university and work place-based learning to enable graduates to secure roles in the healthcare system as recognised allied health professionals.

5. Athena SWAN success for School of Sport and Exercise Sciences

   The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences has been successful in its application for Athena SWAN Bronze Award.

6. Students given unique insight into production of BBC Radio Merseyside’s longest running programme

   LJMU's MA Mass Communications students went behind the scenes at BBC Radio Merseyside for a studio tour, followed by an 'in conversation' event with Mike Brocken, presenter of Folkscene, Radio Merseyside's longest running programme.

7. Honorary Fellowships and Corporate Awards

   Nominations are now invited for individuals and organisations to be considered for Honorary Fellowships and Awards.

8. Training for managers: disabilities and long-term health conditions, including mental health

   LJMU’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team, are proud to be working in partnership with coaching and training specialists; Result CIC (Community Interest Company) and are pleased to offer LJMU Managers, Programme Leaders and Personal Tutors (those directly responsible for staff/students) the opportunity to participate in a half day Training for Managers of Staff with Disabilities & Long-Term Health Conditions Including Mental Health, workshop.

9. Exhibition Research Lab presents: Printed Matter

   Printed Matter is a series of inter-connected exhibitions that reflect the collaborative nature and global reach of printmaking, compiled and curated by Hannah Fray, Paul Davidson and Neil Morris, Printmaking staff at LJMU’s School of Art and Design.

10. LJMU accelerating partnership talks with FPT School of Business & Technology (FSB), Hanoi

    The Head of International Partnerships and International Partnerships Manager held talks in Hanoi with representatives of FPT School of Business & Technology to support the development of LJMU's Transnational education ventures in Vietnam.
