   Shakespeare; creative genius, wordsmith and innovator, was also a man of the people. His influence on the English language has stood the test of time, and lines such as ‘in a nutshell,’ ‘mum's the word,’ ‘eaten out of house and home,’ ‘all's well that ends well" and ‘a wild goose chase’ are just some of those in common, everyday usage.

3. Honorary Fellow: Ian Meadows

   Ian Meadows received an Honorary Fellowship from LJMU on Friday 28 November 2014 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to business and the civic life of the city.

4. LJMU donates £10,000 to local charity

   LJMU has donated £10,000 to a local charity on the back of the National Student Survey (NSS) 2022.

   Legendary British film director Ken Loach joined staff and students for a screening of his 1995 film 'Land and Freedom' followed by an hour-long Q&A.

6. New Staff Gardening Group

   The School of Biological & Environmental Sciences has been working on a project to improve Byrom Street Campus with 10 urban wildlife gardens.

8. Transgender Day / Remembrance Vigil Liverpool 

   Today is Transgender Day or Remembrance (20th November 2019) - A vigil will be held in Exchange Station 6.00pm onwards

9. Chief's lecture places surveillance in the spotlight

   250 people gathered in the Redmonds Building to hear Sir Jon Murphy QPM, Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, give his annual public lecture, focusing on surveillance and its impacts on contemporary law enforcement.
