Sean studied law at Liverpool Polytechnic and was President of the Student’s Union. He has since gone on to become a BBC journalist, reporting on politics and parliament, often hosting LJMU students at the BBC and sharing career insights.
Olivia is a marketing executive and a degree apprenticeship graduate, having studied with us over four years before gaining her BSc in Digital Technology Solutions. She is passionate about STEM opportunities for all, uncovering data bias and championing diverse career pathways.
One of the UK’s youngest Black professors, an LJMU alum and former lecturer who attributes the success of his academic career so far, in part, to the supportive leadership and peers here at the university.

Lord Alton had a long career in politics as an MP for Liverpool before becoming the founder of our Roscoe Lecture Series - delivering three lectures himself since the series began - and was a Professor of Citizenship at the university for some 20 years.
