2. Arts and Humanities Research Council awards LJMU £250,000

   LJMU researchers are to help regenerate post-industrial sites of China after successfully bidding for £250,000 funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

3. Opportunities for veterans to plug skills shortage in green energy sector

   LJMU played host to the inaugural Veterans’ Green Energy Forum (Thursday 23 February) in an extension of its commitment to supporting veterans to better access higher education and to further its role in combatting climate concerns.

4. First appointment for new Jockey Nutrition and Welfare PhD

   A PhD co-funded by the British Horseracing Authority and LJMU will commence in October with a full-time three year role for Daniel Martin from the Professional Jockeys Association’s Nutrition Team.

5. Dinosaur footprint expert to feature in Channel 5 series fronted by Stephen Fry

   Dinosaurs with Stephen Fry, airing from Sunday 12 February on Channel 5, will feature expert analysis from LJMU’s Dr Peter Falkingham. He will explain how birds are modern descendants of dinosaurs by looking at the motion of ostriches compared to the T. rex.

7. Criminologists use art and play to question ideas of justice

   LJMU academics work alongside artist to create a board game that brings the experiences of life on probation to the general public.

   Around 250 graduating artists and designers are reaping the rewards of a huge technological effort to exhibit all final year work on digital platforms as LJMU adapts to the new normal.
