1. Celebrating Black History Month

   For this year's Black History Month celebrations, LJMU is involved in a range of events.

2. One of only eight universities to secure prestigious international funding

   LJMU has been awarded approximately £490,000 from Research England’s first ever International Investment Initiative (I3). The award has been jointly made to LJMU and The University of Western Australia (UWA) for the international collaboration project, i-CARDIO. The project has a dual focus; the first component is the delivery of workshops to develop innovative ways to detect cardiovascular diseases for preventative intervention using imaging techniques. The second element is the evaluation of Australia’s model of accreditation of clinical exercise scientists and physiologists. The accreditation incorporates university and work place-based learning to enable graduates to secure roles in the healthcare system as recognised allied health professionals.

3. Mental health lecturer launches website to help medical professionals support asylum seekers and refugees

   A new online resource hub to help health care professionals signpost refugees and asylum seekers to support services has been created by a senior lecturer in mental health at LJMU.

4. Student Life and Sports Building win Best New Build Project award

   LJMU’s Copperas Hill development has won an award for the Best New Build Project at the Merseyside Civic Design Awards.

5. The University Funded Diversity and Inclusion Scheme research initiatives announced

   After consideration of all applications to the University Funded Diversity and Inclusion Scheme, the projects to receive funding have been announced.

6. Events across LJMU to celebrate International Women's Day 2023

   LJMU is proud to be supporting this year’s International Women’s Day theme #EmbraceEquity, with a selection of events open to all staff and students, happening across the University over the next two months

7. Project Harpocrates scholarship for police staff seeking a career in covert investigations and intelligence

   The police staff, drawn from Nottinghamshire Police, West Midlands Police and British Transport Police, secured the scholarship opportunity under an initiative known as Project Harpocrates. The project seeks to support law enforcement efforts to recruit and retain staff in the highly specialist area of covert operations and specialist intelligence.  Whilst the project was open to all officers one of the specific aims of the project is to increase the representation of  Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff (BAME)  in this challenging and exciting area of investigation and intelligence management.

8. Data protection related policy updates

   Four data protection related policies have been updated and can now be found on the LJMU Policy Centre.

9. Look after your wellbeing throughout the year

   Feel Fab Feb may be over but there's wellbeing support for students and staff throughout the year at LJMU

10. Pint of Science Festival comes to Liverpool

    Lecturers from across LJMU will be sharing their research as part of the Pint of Science Festival Programme this May.
