  1. About the Elder Dempster project

    The Homeward Bound: A Liverpool-West Africa Heritage Project documents the lives and memories of Elder Dempster’s seafaring and office staff. As part of the project, we recorded 25 oral testimonies.

  2. Ethnically Diverse Staff Network

    The LJMU Ethnically Diverse Staff Network is open to staff whom identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, in the first instance.

  3. Norman Thelwell (1923-2004)

    Norman is considered to be the most popular cartoonist in Britian since the Second World War and some regard him as the unofficial artist of the British countryside. As a graduate of the Liverpool College of Art, the forerunner to today’s Liverpool School of Art and Design, it was here that he undertook a course in illustration, one of the many ex-servicemen and women who joined the school after the war.

  4. Paul Killen

    Paul celebrated his 25th anniversary of working at LJMU in 2023, our Bicentenary year, and in 2024 will reach a marvellous milestone of 40 years working in education and will retire from the profession.

  5. Finding the right path

    Read Karen Critchley's story - When Karen graduated with a degree in Fine Art from LJMU she was not at all sure what she wanted to do with her life. Some 14 years on she has a Masters in Public Health under her belt and a flourishing career at the Public Health Institute.
