1. New HEFCE funding to upskill Liverpool City Region’s engineering industry

   LJMU has been awarded a share of £6.1 million by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to develop new and enhanced higher education courses.

   Genetic analysis of ancient DNA from a six-week-old female infant found at an Interior Alaska archaeological site, has revealed a previously unknown population of ancient people in North America.

4. Major new joint research project will focus on mental health of jockeys and staff in the horse racing industry

   LJMU, Racing Welfare and the BHA will be carrying out a major new piece of research into the provision of mental health services across horse racing.

5. LJMU hosts international delegates as they showcase new innovative solutions and best practice in health care in Liverpool

   The school of nursing and allied health at LJMU is hosting international delegates from the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary and Portugal as part of their commitment to HELIUM

6. Championing positive culture change

   It was standing room only at LJMU's BAME Staff Network launch held at Sensor City earlier this month. The session, which was chaired by Professor Ahmed Al-Shamma’a, featured a range of enlightening and informative keynote talks.

7. Congratulations - we walked around the world 12 times in only 100 days!

   This is the fourth consecutive year that LJMU has enjoyed 100 days of stepping and wellbeing - with 78 teams taking part between 23 May and 30 August 2018.

8. Immersive Storytelling Experiences explored at Liverpool Screen School Symposium

   On December 14, Liverpool Screen School welcomed over 200 guests from industry and academia and over 30 speakers, including demonstrations, to discuss how immersive technology was impacting on storytelling.

   A renowned comedian and writer, the Public Health England national lead for mental health and wellbeing and an LJMU Honorary fellow were among the impressive speakers that informed and enlightened almost 300 delegates at the Let's Talk Disability and Mental Health Conference.

10. LJMU announces Honorary Fellowships for July Graduation

    The prestigious titles are awarded to those who have made an outstanding contribution to society, or an outstanding achievement by an individual in a given field, resonating with the ethos of the University and the city of Liverpool.
