   AI from Liverpool John Moores University is being used to identify animals, plot their movements and spot wounds in a bid to help conservationists, reports New Scientist.

3. In memoriam: Lady Grantchester

   It is with great sadness that the university marks the passing of Lady Grantchester, Honorary Fellow, and eldest daughter of the university namesake the late Sir John Moores.

4. LJMU wins funding for 200 new Degree Apprenticeships under Government initiative

   LJMU will be opening its doors to an extra 200 new employer-supported Degree Apprentices in September 2017, after being only one of 18 universities to secure part of a multimillion pound Government fund.

6. Schoolgirl researchers visit world-class sport science labs

   The year 9 pupils from Liverpool's Holly Lodge Girls College spent two days working alongside world-class scientists in physiology, biomechanics and sport and exercise psychology, as well as current LJMU students, to gain expert insight into sport science research methodology.

7. New Reading List Management System Launched.

   In January 2015 Library Services piloted the use of a reading list management system, Rebus:List with 27 academics across the University with a soft launch that Summer.

8. #IamRemarkable, Google Garage and NatWest Business Builder training

   Google Garage is supporting LJMUs Global Entrepreneurship Week (16 22 November) with a series of superb and state-of-the-art business training for students and staff.

9. Secure a paid internship and discover what you want to be

   LJMU is offering our second and final year students (Levels 5 & 6) the opportunity to undertake a paid 'Discovery Internship' with a local organisation, working on a suitable project or piece of work that will enhance your employability skills and career insight.
