1. Thermal ‘fingerprinting’ to help conserve rare animals in Madagascar

   SCIENTIFIC methods developed at Liverpool John Moores University and Chester Zoo to count animals from the air are being adopted in the wilds of Madagascar.

2. Project Harpocrates scholarship for police staff seeking a career in covert investigations and intelligence

   The police staff, drawn from Nottinghamshire Police, West Midlands Police and British Transport Police, secured the scholarship opportunity under an initiative known as Project Harpocrates. The project seeks to support law enforcement efforts to recruit and retain staff in the highly specialist area of covert operations and specialist intelligence.  Whilst the project was open to all officers one of the specific aims of the project is to increase the representation of  Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff (BAME)  in this challenging and exciting area of investigation and intelligence management.

3. LJMU to build world's largest robotic telescope

   Liverpool John Moores University will start work on the world's largest robotic telescope after a £4 million boost from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

4. Students visit textiles and life conference

   MA Fashion Innovation and Realisation students: Joshua Marriott, Macarena Morilla Dominguez and Courtney Hammond presented research posters based on their MA proposals.

   LJMU Library has developed a new children's reading corner, providing access to a collection of children's books. This new space provides a fun and relaxed reading area for use by students, staff, local teachers and school children.

7. Professional Services Conference 2020 - call for submissions

   The Leadership and Development Foundation are now inviting submissions to present at this year's Professional Services Conference - on the theme of 'Continuous Improvement: the art of the possible'.

8. £50,000 project to assess mental health value of 'great outdoors'

   A successful bid by a national research group led by LJMU looks to better strengthen the use outdoor natural environments as a mental health asset over the coming decade.

9. LJMU postgraduate Sport Psychology programme first of only three in country to gain BASES accreditation

   The School of Sport & Exercise Sciences at LJMU is one of only three universities to have its MSc Sport Psychology course accredited by professional body, the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).

10. Masters in Art and Design Degree Show: Class of 2020 show their enterprise

    Around 40 students will exhibit their ideas from MA courses in Fine Art, Graphic Art and Illustration, Art in Science, Fashion Innovation and Realisation and Exhibition Studies.
