LOOM is accepting PhD applicants who wish to carry out research into the design and operation of large engineering systems, as well as research on operational research, including simulation, optimisation and evolutionary computation. Every year, researchers from ART LABS publish over 50 publications. Staff create publications within a number of key disciplines, including: contemporary art, 3D digital art, the uses of art and cultural enrichment, exhibitions and curatorship, as well as design discourse and practice.
The Sustainable Resource Processing and Reuse theme is investigating advanced technologies and solutions to address current sustainability goals, climate change and reduction of carbon footprint for example anaerobic digestion, biodiesel production from waste streams, water and wastewater purification and resource capture.
Based within the Centre for the Study of Crime, Criminalisation and Social Exclusion, Artivism seeks to explore new models of collaborative work between researchers, artists, curators, campaign groups and charities.
