  1. Contexts of human evolution

    Research within the Contexts of Human Evolution Group involves archaeological, palaeontological and environmental analyses of human evolution. Our research focuses on mammalian evolution, hominin behaviour and ecology, and patterns of faunal and floral distribution.   2. Forensic anthropology

    The Forensic anthropology group is committed to the development of protocols and guidelines to increase the reliability of the recovery, documentation and analysis of human remains. We provide casework consultancy for forensic anthropological analysis, facial approximation and mass grave excavation.   3. Human variation and adaptability

  4. Population health

    The Public Health Institute provides the expertise to inform the delivery and development of interventions and services to those programmes that address food, physical activity, women's health, health of refugees and asylum seekers, mental health and employment.

  5. Global Health

    International Health is a cross-cutting theme at the Institute for Health Research, and represents all LJMU research active staff collaborating with overseas partners and conducting international health research and evaluation.

  6. Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science

    The Cardiovascular Health and Care Interest Group within the Institute for Health Research is a real-world applied research group that aims to provide healthcare solutions from bench to bedside.

  7. Digital Data Examination Network

    The Digital Data Examination Network employs machine learning, facial identification, and AI in the detection, recovery and analysis of digital data from audio-video and CCTV footage, 2D and 3D images and online material for the identification of deepfakes, cybercrime, counter-terrorism and security risks.
