  1. Expertise within MEMARC

The Mechanical Engineering and Materials Research Centre (MEMARC) has four research groups. Here you can find out more about each of these research groups and their individual specialisms.

  2. Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers

The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, launched in June 2008, is an agreement between funders and employers of researchers in the UK and represents a significant development in national policy to support good management of researchers and their careers.

  3. Ship Operations Manager

The Ship Operations Manager is a shore-based role responsible for the commercial management of vessels. Directly accountable to the vessel management organisation e.g. ship management company or ship owner, this role ensures efficient and effective operation of a fleet of vessels from a commercial perspective.

  4. Expertise in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Research Centre have several research groups; the Applied Forensic Technology Research (AFTR) Group, the Control and Logistics Group, the Industrial Design Group, the Electric Machines and Drives Group, the Microelectronics Research Group and the Sensors and Communications Group.

  5. About MEMARC

The Mechanical Engineering and Materials Research Centre (MEMARC) specialises in fracture and contact mechanics, wave propagation in lattices and microstructures, thermal fatigue and thermal striping, materials development and processing, as well as dynamics and control systems. You can find out more about these research areas and the projects MEMARC are working on here.

  6. MEMARC projects

Researchers from the Mechanical Engineering and Materials Research Centre (MEMARC) have undertaken a range of projects. Read about past projects and case studies here.

  7. Expertise within PROTECT

The Research Centre for Critical Infrastructure Computer Technology and Protection (PROTECT) has four research groups. You can find out more about PROTECT's research, the Centre's specialisms and groups here.

  8. Electrical and Electronic Engineering facilities

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Research Centre has a wide range of facilities, including probe stations, test samples, semiconductor parameter analyzers and a range of three-phase and multiphase (five-phase, six-phase and nine-phase) machines too. The Centre also has two-level and three-level voltage source inverters and a three-phase to nine-phase direct matrix converter.

  9. Maritime CPD courses

LJMU’s Maritime Centre offers a full range of courses under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers.
