1. LJMU Cycling Club ride Liverpool to Paris distance in 24-hour fundraiser

   LJMU Cycling Club took part in a non-stop 24-hour ride last week, raising over £200 for the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

2. School of Humanities and Social Sciences create Craft Club for student wellbeing

   The department of Media, Culture, Communication in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences has established a new initiative to create space for students to socialise and support their wellbeing.

3. Women in football celebrated at inaugural LJMU networking event

   On Wednesday 15 June, LJMU celebrated the work of women in football at the inaugural meeting of the Football Exchange Women's Network (FExWN). The event brought together network members, delegates and industry speakers to celebrate their contributions to the sport and to challenge the realms of what is considered possible.

4. Sport coaching expertise goes international in Malta

   International specialists in the field of sport coaching at LJMU visited Malta earlier this month as they delivered face-to-face teaching components of the inaugural postgraduate programme.

5. MA Student shortlisted for ‘Tourism Young Person of the Year’

   LJMU student Victoria Smith, 24 was shortlisted for the Tourism Young Person of the Year award at this years Liverpool City Region Tourist Awards 2022. The awards, that took place at Liverpool Cathedral, saw businesses and guests from across Liverpool celebrating the city regions tourism sector.

6. First-of-its-kind Jamaican art exhibition opening in Liverpool

   The first exhibition of wholly Jamaican art to be displayed in North-West England will find its home in Liverpool this spring. The exhibition has been curated by Dr Emma Roberts, Associate Dean for Global Engagement for the Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies at LJMU.

   Three athletes supported by LJMUs Performance Sport team, at the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, have received national recognition for their achievements.

9. LJMU PHD student Valeria Carini recognised at Pandemic Institute’s first Student Excellence Awards

   Valeria was presented the award alongside students from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine with grants for scientific research, aimed to enhance preparedness for future pandemics.
