1. Galaxy Zoo allows public to zoom in on Universe discoveries

   Researchers at the LJMU Astrophysics Research Institute have recently joined Galaxy Zoo, a 'citizen science' driven astronomy project.

2. Graduation review Thursday 12 July

   The morning saw graduations from Maritime and Mechanical Engineering, the Astrophysics Research Institute, Electronics and Electrical Engineering and the School of Nursing and Allied Health.    The prestigious Lever Prize 2016 has been won by the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) for a joint project with FACT, involving FACTLab, a collaboration between FACT and LJMU, which explores the interaction between arts and science.

6. LJMU and Merseyside Police Embark on Joint Venture

   Liverpool John Moores University and Merseyside Police have agreed a project to assess the feasibility of a Joint Academy. The University and the force have been working together for the past ten years to strengthen ties between academic study and policing.

8. Astronomers catch Tatooine multiple star system as it forms

   For the first time astronomers, including Dr Richard Parker, of the Astrophysics Research Institute at LJMU, have caught a multiple-star system as it is created, and their observations are providing new insight into how such systems, and possibly the solar system, are formed. The amazing images taken from a series of telescopes on Earth show clouds of gas which are in the process of developing into stars.

9. Sport science students make an impact with nearly 15,000 hours of placements

   From community sports clubs that support people with special educational needs to premier league football clubs, 173 students have undertaken 14,730 hours of work-based placements this academic year.
