1. Support for students over the winter break

2. Ice Age bone samples reveal DNA links between wolves and dogs

   An international group of geneticists and archaeologists have analysed bones samples, some provided by LJMU, that reveal the ancestry of dogs can be traced to at least two populations of ancient wolves.

3. Menopause cafes to take place in person throughout 2023

   To keep conversations moving forward around the menopause, dates in January, April, July and October 2023 have been set for the next four menopause cafes.

4. Events and support for disabled and neurodivergent students

   Disability History Month begins this week (16 November- 16 December) and LJMU has a range of events, careers advice sessions and support available for students.

5. Induction Update from PVC Student Experience Professor Phil Vickerman

   As induction week begins, PVC Professor Phil Vickerman is sharing updates from the Transition and Induction Group and asking staff to share feedback for next year.

6. Why the menopause matters and workplace support at LJMU

   For the past two years, colleagues across LJMU have been working to better understand and recognise the type of support needed by those experiencing the menopause, and to devise ways to create greater awareness across the organisation.

7. Art and Science Exchange

   On Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th August 2019, the MA Art in Science programme at Liverpool School of Art and Design hosted an Art & Science Exchange workshop with members of the Biochemical Society. The exchange was held at the John Lennon Art and Design Building, in the Public Exhibition Space and X-Gallery amongst the MA Art in Science student's end of programme postgraduate exhibition, which showcases the outcomes of their three month research projects. These projects served as a basis for investigation of specific art-science interactions, and were supported by open discussions, hands on activities and a Liverpool LASER talk.

9. LJMU becomes accredited Living Wage employer

   LJMU has become the first University in the city and the largest employer in Liverpool to be accredited as a Living Wage employer.

10. Staff Car Parking Update

    Following a recent review of LJMU staff car parking provision, the university will continue to subsidise staff car parking until 31 August 2023.
