2. REF 2021 Consideration for Individual Circumstances

   As part of the University’s commitment to supporting equality and diversity in the forthcoming Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), we have put in place safe and supportive structures for eligible academic staff to declare information about any equality-related circumstances that may have affected their ability to research productively during the assessment period (1 January 2014 – 31 December 2020), and particularly their ability to produce research outputs at the same rate as staff not affected by circumstances.

3. Getting to grips with technology in media

   Pupils from Sacred Heart College, Crosby joined the Media Technology Group of the Dept. of Electronics & Electrical Engineering to learn technical processes for creating TV programmes.

4. LJMU and LCR collaboration creates 44 apprentices for autism charity

   LJMU has collaborated with LCR to transfer £132,000 of unspent Apprenticeship Levy to Autism Initiatives, funding 44 new apprentice care workers for the charity.

5. Inspirational student reaches £150,000 target to repay his life-saving bone marrow transplant

   Andrew Davies, who is in his second year studying a Sport and Exercise Science degree, has completed his mission to raise £150,000 to pay back the hospital which saved his life six years ago.

6. Elite sport stars deliver guest lectures

   The guest lecturers included Premier league football coach Mike Phelan and England International netball player Sara Bayman.

7. Exhibition of composite images reveals faces of 19th and 21st Century crime

   The difference between the fates of ordinary people and criminals is ‘paper thin’, as demonstrated by a new exhibition of composite facial images of 19th Century and 21st Century criminals.

8. Congratulations - we walked around the world 12 times in only 100 days!

   This is the fourth consecutive year that LJMU has enjoyed 100 days of stepping and wellbeing - with 78 teams taking part between 23 May and 30 August 2018.
