   Themes of sea, migration and mobility swept through the launch of the University’s Research Institute for Literature and Cultural History at Liverpool Tate.

5. New study suggests explanations for usage of plesiosaurs’ long necks

   Plesiosaurs are an extinct group of marine reptiles from the age of dinosaurs who are famous for their long necks. The effect of such long necks on how these animals swam is a mystery but now computer simulations are helping LJMU scientists understand what would happen if a plesiosaur turned its head while swimming.

6. Premier League sports psychologists attend Football Exchange conference

   The Football Exchange, from the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, hosted its first ‘Psychology of Football’ conference. The event, endorsed by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES), was attended by over 120 delegates, including representatives from every English Premier League club, the Scottish Leagues and women’s football, with practitioners travelling from across the UK, Holland, Denmark, Estonia, Norway, Germany, Slovenia, Portugal, Poland and the US.

   The Roscoe Lecture, named ‘What do you think about when you think of nothing?’ entails the strange concept that meditating and clearing the mind often throws up a lot of questions- which is exactly what you are not meant to be doing

8. LJMU Academic awarded National Teaching Fellowship

   Ester Ragonese, Associate Dean Education (APS) and Senior Lecturer in Criminal Justice has been awarded a National Teaching Fellowship from Advance HE.

10. International Scholarships awarded to 16 students

    16 students were presented with their international scholarships this week at a reception in the Student Life Building.
