   It is with great sadness that the University announces the death of Sir Bert Massie CBE DL .

   Disability History Month runs between 16 November and 16 December 2023 and it is an opportunity to reflect on the past and create positive change for the present and the future.

3. City remembers disability rights hero and LJMU Honorary Fellow

   Sir Bert was a leading disability rights activist and was awarded his Honorary Fellowship at LJMU in 2002 for services to equality and promoting the rights of disabled people. He also served as a Governor of the university for nine years.
