1. Research project into slavery

   LJMU is offering an opportunity to collaborate on a research project to examine the university’s historical associations with slavery.

2. Songs, stories and games earn history lecturer national recognition

   Singsongs, card games and radio shows would not normally be part of a History degree unless you are lucky enough to be taught by lecturer Lucinda Matthews-Jones, that is.

   Since the start of our Bicentenary year, we’ve been curating profiles that tell the stories of our people from the past, the present and those shaping and changing the future for the better.

   On Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January) we reflect on some of the past events at LJMU which have shaped our understanding of humanity's worst crimes.

   Tales of autocracy, war and slavery at public launch of Modern and Contemporary History Centre.

6. Disability History Month at LJMU

   Disability History Month begins today (16 November – 16 December) and our Disabled Staff Network, EDI team and JMSU will be hosting an event on Friday 2 December.

7. Battle of the Atlantic 80th anniversary events led by LJMU

   This month Liverpool will play host to a swathe of commemorative events marking its links with WWII’s Battle of the Atlantic, 80 years on. LJMU’s staff and students across its Drama, History and Maritime programmes will play a role in marking this milestone anniversary

8. Bicentenary year gets underway

   As our 200th year gets underway, we are excited to celebrate with you, our students and our staff, and there will be opportunities throughout the year for you to get involved.
