The Mechanical Engineering and Materials Research Centre (MEMARC) has four research groups. Here you can find out more about each of these research groups and their individual specialisms.

The Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour has dedicated facilities including: EEG, psychophysiology, appetite research and neuroscience microneurography laboratories plus experimental testing booths and a sleep-over rest room. We also share a number of facilities with other science departments within the University.

Expertise within the Centre for Natural Products Discovery include: Natural Products synthesis, analysis, Pharmacology, formation and delivery, toxicology. Phytochemistry and Phytotherapy, Microbial Natural Products and Nutraceuticals Functional foods.
The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Research Centre have several research groups; the Applied Forensic Technology Research (AFTR) Group, the Control and Logistics Group, the Industrial Design Group, the Electric Machines and Drives Group, the Microelectronics Research Group and the Sensors and Communications Group.
The Centre undertakes historical research on port cities and examines their relationship to maritime ventures and enterprise.
