3. Merseyside pupils experience working life at LJMU

   36 students from across 16 schools in Merseyside have taken part in work experience at Liverpool John Moores University over the summer.

4. Education students gain experience and insight through placements in Thailand

   For the past eight years students from the LJMU BA Education and BA Early Childhood Studies programmes have had the opportunity to undertake international placements thanks to a partnership with Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok, Thailand.

5. Maritime SuperSkills Project

   Event to celebrate the successful completion of the project at the Maritime Museum, Royal Albert Dock on 13th June 2019. Attended by Iain McKinnon, Secretary Maritime Skills Alliance, local and national employers and LJMU staff who have helped with the project.

   LJMU Film Studies and Creative Writing Student, and now LJMU graduate, Benjamin Jones shares his take on what life was like on set of a major film production, what he learnt and how his course at Liverpool Screen School helped him in the world of film.

7. Reciprocal Mentoring Programme involving BAME Staff, Black Students and Senior Leaders

   Given the success of last year's pilot, we are running the LJMU Reciprocal Mentoring Programme again and we are extending it to include BAME staff from across the institution. The programme is open to all LJMU Senior Staff from Director Level of non BAME Background and to BAME staff from non-Director Level and to Black Students from all Faculties.

8. Lecturer's theatre show opens

   A production by an LJMU lecturer, based on the lived experiences of children who have a parent in prison, opens in theatres this month.

9. New research by Public Health Institute on children’s perceptions of electronic cigarettes

   The increasing popularity and rapid growth of electronic cigarettes has raised considerable concern about their impact on children and young people.

10. Massive stars sound warning they are about to go supernova

    In a new study, published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, researchers have for the first time simulated how these massive stars seemingly fade away and disappear when they enter their pre-explosion phase.
