   A summary of the winners of the VC Awards for Research, Scholarship and Knowledge Transfer 2019 conferred at the University Research and Innovation Day in June.

3. Art and Science Exchange

   On Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th August 2019, the MA Art in Science programme at Liverpool School of Art and Design hosted an Art & Science Exchange workshop with members of the Biochemical Society. The exchange was held at the John Lennon Art and Design Building, in the Public Exhibition Space and X-Gallery amongst the MA Art in Science student's end of programme postgraduate exhibition, which showcases the outcomes of their three month research projects. These projects served as a basis for investigation of specific art-science interactions, and were supported by open discussions, hands on activities and a Liverpool LASER talk.

4. LJMU leading news agenda on gang crime in Liverpool

   School of Justice colleagues Dr Robert Hesketh, an expert on gang crime, and former detectives Richard Carr and Peter Williams, have been inundated with requests for commentary on the unfolding events and have gained coverage internationally.

6. Pointing disadvantaged youngsters towards careers in law

   LJMU once again proved its commitment to supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds thanks to the Law Factor.

7. Pandemics and public health: have we found our new normal? - Conan Leavey and Graeme Mitchell, Public Health Institute, LJMU

   It was only a relatively short time ago - in March this year - that the World Health Organisation declared Covid-19 a pandemic. We know now that it is likely to be many, many months before the UK pronounces its outbreak over; and certainly years before it is over globally.

   Following the close of the elections for 6 posts on the Academic Board, the results are now available.

9. Social mobility: making the future work for everyone

   Former UK Secretary of State, Justine Greening, led a series of discussions at LJMU this week aimed at creating better opportunities for young people.

10. Call for submissions: Teaching and Learning Conference 2020

    This year's conference will take place on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 June and submissions are now invited from staff and students and collaborative partner institutions, as well as other colleagues working in post-16 education.
