   Students in Liverpool are benefitting from improved mental health support, thanks to a partnership between universities and NHS services across the city.

   The representations of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) roles is improving, but there’s work to be done. As of 2018, WISE Campaign (Women into Science and Engineering) announced that the UK is on track to have one million women working in the field by 2020. These statistics are encouraging, and demonstrate an improvement in opportunities shown to young women who pursue the career path.

5. Baroness Amos discusses challenges of the UN

   Baroness Valerie Amos, Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, United Nations, delivered a Roscoe Lecture entitled ‘The role of the United Nations in a world riven by conflict, poverty and hunger.’

6. Project Harpocrates scholarship for police staff seeking a career in covert investigations and intelligence

   The police staff, drawn from Nottinghamshire Police, West Midlands Police and British Transport Police, secured the scholarship opportunity under an initiative known as Project Harpocrates. The project seeks to support law enforcement efforts to recruit and retain staff in the highly specialist area of covert operations and specialist intelligence.  Whilst the project was open to all officers one of the specific aims of the project is to increase the representation of  Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff (BAME)  in this challenging and exciting area of investigation and intelligence management.

7. Liverpool John Moores University awarded Athena Swan Silver

   LJMU has been recognised with the Athena Swan Silver Award for the university's commitment to promoting gender equality.

   Student Laura Dye, 32, has coached Rebecca Roberts to victory as placed second at the Arnold Strongwoman Competition in Ohio, USA.

    A new study from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) highlights the high prevalence of cannabidiol (CBD) use among professional rugby players despite warnings it could lead to drugs bans.
