1. Olympus partnership to train more professionals in cancer screening

   Liverpool John Moores University is set to train more people in diagnosing cancer thanks to a partnership with global optics firm Olympus.

3. Scheme helps LJMU employ more local people of colour

   A new scheme, Positive Action Training (PAT), helping local people of colour enter employment at LJMU has been launched by the Vice-Chancellor (interim).

4. Training: Supporting students from Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showmen and Boater communities

   LJMU has long prided itself on offering access to higher education to under-represented sections of our community.

5. LJMU and LCR collaboration creates 44 apprentices for autism charity

   LJMU has collaborated with LCR to transfer £132,000 of unspent Apprenticeship Levy to Autism Initiatives, funding 44 new apprentice care workers for the charity.

6. LJMU receives Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and National Teaching Fellowship

   LJMU is one of 15 teams to win the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) and an LJMU academic has also been awarded one of 54 National Teaching Fellows (NTF). Dr Philip Denton, Principal Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, is the recipient of the NTF and the paramedic team at LJMU’s Schools of Nursing and Allied Health received the CATE.

   A collaboration with pupils and staff at St Vincent's school and funded by Children in Need Janette Porter and Kay Standing from Sociology, supported by LJMU placement students

9. Law alumna Nisha Katona MBE announced as next Chancellor

   The Board of Governors has approved the appointment of Nisha Katona MBE as the sixth Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University.

10. Pointing disadvantaged youngsters towards careers in law

    LJMU once again proved its commitment to supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds thanks to the Law Factor.
