3. Marine technology professor wins two prestigious research awards

   Professor Jin Wang from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology has recently won the following prestigious awards: Outstanding Contribution to Marine Safety award for 2017 and the 2017 Royal Institution of Naval Architecture (RINA).

4. Transatlantic research partnership in the arts

   LJMU’s School of Art and Design has agreed a five-year partnership with Transart Institute in New York City, which will see the two organisations offer a joint transdisciplinary doctoral programme from summer 2020. The aim of the programme is to create an exchange in research areas including contemporary art, art history, curating and exhibition studies, digital culture and technology.

   The discovery of invisible galaxies billions of light years from Earth is helping us understand the origins of the Universe, say astrophysicists.

6. degree apprenticeships

   LJMU is set to expand its successful degree apprenticeship programmes after being awarded significant new funding. The university has received £1m from the Office for Students’ national fund to support level 6 degree apprenticeships.

   LJMU welcomed hundreds of investors, entrepreneurs and policymakers to a summit to conclude the Liverpool City Region’s first ever Innovation Investment Week.

8. College students enjoy stay in Liverpool and university experience
