1. GaP Training - Additonal Dates Available

   Additional training dates have now been made available as GaP (Grants and Projects) training has proved to be very popular.

2. Staff event at Student Life Building

   Our next staff open day at the Student Life Building takes place on Wednesday 24 November, with networking opportunities, a chance to find out more about the building and its services, plus a free lunch.

3. Forgetting the beginning of a story might be early sign of dementia

   Researchers from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, think that struggling to recall narratives might be a sign of dementia.

4. Can you support Clearing this year?

   Clearing is fast approaching and, once again, we are looking for support to staff the 105 Clearing Hotlines on Thursday 15 August 2019.

5. Mind the GaP!

   Time is rapidly running out for Principal Investigators to be trained on the new Grants and Projects (GaP) system. It has been agreed by the University that any bids for external funding (research and enterprise activity) from April 2020 will need to be set up by the Principal Investigator on the GaP system, so its important that you book onto training ASAP.

6. World Mental Health Day

   World Mental Health Day is observed annually on 10 October with the main objective of raising awareness of mental health issues and mobilising efforts in support of mental health.

   Our EDI team caught up with Christian Owens, founder of GenderSpace, to discuss gender identity, trans- awareness and policing for Transgender Day of Remembrance.

   This year's International Women's Day theme is #BreakTheBias and Ambar Ennis, VP Community and Wellbeing at JMSU and Julia Daer, EDI Advisor discuss what this means to them.

9. Formula Student road to Silverstone explored in new 1823 Podcast

   In a special edition of the LJMU 1823 Podcast: The road to Silverstone, Dr Christian Matthews is joined by LJMU e-Racing Head of Team 2022, MSc student Cameron Reedy, and former Head of Team, Rhian Griffith, who now works as a mechanical engineer at the Small Robot Company.
