5. Researching the kingfisher’s iconic hydrodynamic design

   Renowned for their noiseless dive, the kingfisher’s iconic beak-shape has inspired the design of high speed bullet trains. Now scientists have tested beak-shape among some of the birds’ 114 species found world-wide, to assess which shape is the most hydrodynamic.

7. NSS 2023: LJMU delivering an excellent student experience

   LJMU has performed well in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2023. The Office for Students (OfS) has published the survey results, which paint a positive picture of the LJMU student experience, while helping us to identify some areas for improvement.

8. Connecting the community with Climate Science

   LJMU celebrated Climate Week 2015 with an event at Manchester Museum which saw over 1,200 people get together with academics and students from the University, British Antarctic Survey, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Manchester to investigate the latest challenges to the environment.

    World, Commonwealth, European and Olympic medallist, Anyika Onuora recently returned to Liverpool John Moores University to talk to sports scholars, sport interns and staff from student sport societies about her experiences as an LJMU Sports Scholar.
