1. PHI continues status as WHO Collaborating Centre for Violence Prevention

   World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that LJMU’s Public Health Institute (PHI) will continue to be recognised as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Violence Prevention.

4. Society for Terrorism Research Conference raises key questions

   The 12th Annual International Conference for the Society for Terrorism Research recently took place at LJMU’s School of Law, exploring ongoing and emerging themes on political violence and terrorism.

   LJMU has promoted five new professors and 34 new readers.

7. Bonobos share and share alike

   Bonobos are willing to share meat with animals outside their own family groups. This behaviour was observed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is documented in a new study in Springer’s journal Human Nature

8. Consultation LJMU and the Atlantic Slave Economy

   In February 2019, LJMU joined the Universities Studying Slavery Consortium (USS), based at the University of Virginia.

9. Staff and community partners celebrate LGBT History Month

   To mark LGBT HIstory Month, LJMU Together (the University's LGBT+ Staff Network) organised a social event on Friday 22nd February featuring talks and a chance to play 'Psychic Bingo' with Liverpool's Lady Seanne.

10. 'Saint of cooking and health' honoured by city

    Public health pioneer and founding figure of LJMU Fanny Calder has been honoured at Liverpool's newest hotel.
