   LJMU’s Outreach Team has continued their work with the Hong Kong community based in Warrington. The team held an event last week to support the community and share access to Higher Educations options, within the region.

4. Vice-Chancellor appointed Chairman of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic

   LJMU Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Professor Nigel Weatherill, has been appointed Chairman of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. The announcement of Professor Weatherill’s appointment as Chair for an initial three-year term has been made following approval of the recommendation by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Board of Directors.

5. Start-up funding opportunity for new student businesses

   The LJMU Start-up Hub is excited to announce that the new Bathgate Boost award is now open! The £500 award is designed to support students who can demonstrate their business idea. Sitting alongside this funding is a package of support from the Start-up Hub team built around developing your start-up and skills as an entrepreneur. The award is open to all current LJMU students and new alumni who graduated from LJMU during 2023.

6. LJMU launches pioneering scheme with senior Black leaders from across the Liverpool City Region

   The launch of the programme, yesterday evening at Liverpool John Moores University, saw the 26 leaders finding out who they had been paired with.

8. Support for care experienced students to be enhanced beyond graduation

   A £50,000 donation will be used to help end the ‘care cliff’ for LJMU students as they finish their studies.

9. Improving PGT student identity and their experience through understanding their expectations on entry – the findings from an 11 University HEFCE funded project

   The seminar will provide an opportunity for exploration through some of the findings from the HEFCE funded project.
