For the first time astronomers, including Dr Richard Parker, of the Astrophysics Research Institute at LJMU, have caught a multiple-star system as it is created, and their observations are providing new insight into how such systems, and possibly the solar system, are formed. In two recent publications, Dr Carlo Meloro from the School of Natural Sciences and Psychology has worked with international teams to demonstrate how we can interpret palaeoecology (the ecology of fossil animals and plants) of extinct wild dogs by looking at their fore-limb and skull shape.
