1. Positive Action Trainees celebrate one year at LJMU

   LJMUs Positive Action Trainees were celebrated at an event this week after almost a year of working at the university, in key professional and technical roles.

2. Wonderful week of Bicentenary year graduation ceremonies

   Nearly 5,000 students and 65 members of staff officially graduated this week across 14 joyous ceremonies at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. The graduates will go down in LJMU history, picking up their accolades in the university’s 200th year.

3. Royal Television Society Award winners

   Two Media Production graduates won Royal Television Society (RTS) awards for their documentary ‘One Eye Open.’ Ian Garden and Josie Webster came first in the Factual Category at the annual Student Television Awards, held at the Lowry Theatre, MediaCityUK.

4. Are we alone? Professor Monica Grady delivers latest Roscoe lecture

   Are we alone? Is there the possibility of life elsewhere beyond the earth? This was the subject of a fascinating lecture on the cosmos and the universe in the latest Roscoe lecture at St Georges Hall, delivered by Monica Grady, Professor of Planetary and Space Sciences at the Open University (OU)

5. Ethnically diverse and Ethnic minority to substitute the BAME Acronym across LJMU

   Following a university wide survey and subsequent focus groups, ethnically diverse or ethnic minority are to replace the use of BAME across the university.

6. Our LJMU community celebrating Ramadan

   Ramadan begins on 2 April and our LJMU Equality team is sharing the support available for those celebrating plus their advice on how our LJMU community can help students and staff who may be fasting.

7. Silver award for support of the Armed Forces

   LJMU has received the silver award from the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) acknowledging how it provides support to the Armed Forces community.

   Vasily Petrenko, Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's Chief Conductor, on Russian history and music.
