1. Sensors and Communications Group

   The Sensors and Communications group carry out applied research in collaboration with industries.

2. Applied Forensic Technology Research Group

   The Applied Forensic Technology Research (AFTeR) Group is interested in all aspects of the application of technology within the field of forensic work. A particular focus is on audio and video forensics.

3. Microelectronics Group

   Researchers from the Microelectronics Research Group are investigating new technologies and materials. Members from the Group are also exploring ‘show-stoppers’ for optimizing digital/analogue circuits.

4. Star formation and evolution and stellar populations

   By studying the gas and stars that shape the Milky Way as well as other galaxies in the local Universe, we can understand the life cycles of stars like our Sun, unravel the chemical enrichment history of the universe, and probe the existence of black holes across a wide mass spectrum.

5. Astronomical Technology

   The Astronomical Technology Group is interested in optical and near-IR observations and the technology that facilitates them. Activities of the group include the operation of the robotic Liverpool Telescope and the development of its 4 metre successor.

8. Understanding the effectiveness of the James’ Place therapeutic model

   The aim of this study is to examine how effective the James’ Place therapeutic model is helping men overcome their suicidal crisis in both the short- and long-term.

9. Configuration and utilisation of clinical pathways by patients who attend A&E in suicidal crisis

   This study will enable two mental health trusts across Cheshire and Merseyside to review eight A&E departments’ hospital data for patients who attend in suicidal crisis.
