   Here are some highlights of what happened at the first two graduation ceremonies of the week.

2. Honorary Fellowships and Corporate Awards

   Nominations are now invited for individuals and organisations to be considered for Honorary Fellowships and Awards.

3. Scheme helps LJMU employ more local people of colour

   A new scheme, Positive Action Training (PAT), helping local people of colour enter employment at LJMU has been launched by the Vice-Chancellor (interim).

4. MA Student shortlisted for ‘Tourism Young Person of the Year’

   LJMU student Victoria Smith, 24 was shortlisted for the Tourism Young Person of the Year award at this years Liverpool City Region Tourist Awards 2022. The awards, that took place at Liverpool Cathedral, saw businesses and guests from across Liverpool celebrating the city regions tourism sector.

5. Dazzling Iron Age discovery

   Archaeologists have discovered evidence of the first wealthy Iron Age community in the North West of England. 

6. $1 billion not enough to halt orangutan decline

   A new study shows that money is better spent on forest protection and law enforcement than rescue and rehabilitation

7. Reciprocal Mentoring Programme involving BAME Staff, Black Students and Senior Leaders

   Given the success of last year's pilot, we are running the LJMU Reciprocal Mentoring Programme again and we are extending it to include BAME staff from across the institution. The programme is open to all LJMU Senior Staff from Director Level of non BAME Background and to BAME staff from non-Director Level and to Black Students from all Faculties.

8. Postgraduate Research Festival

   The programme included 3MT Final, Poster Competition and career insights from Alumni and external organisations

9. Royal Society funds LJMU partnership with schoolgirl ‘researchers’

   Go-getting school girls hope to springboard into top science careers by undertaking their own research with Liverpool John Moores University.

10. Alumni return to Liverpool Screen School with top TV production company

    Three LJMU Screen School alumni recently visited current film studies students to share their experience of working in TV and film production.
