5. Research shows holidays offered by The Royal British Legion significantly improve well-being

   LJMU researchers have carried out a major national study on behalf of The Royal British Legion which shows the breaks and holidays they offer military veterans and their families hugely improves their mental health and well-being.

7. Astro-ecology: Counting orangutans using star-spotting technology

   LJMU, WWF and HUTAN came together to examine better ways of detecting the great apes in the Bornean forest canopy, by using drones fitted with thermal-imaging cameras.

8. Megalith tombs were family graves in European Stone Age

   In a new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, an international research team, led by Uppsala University with co-author Linus Girdland-Flink of LJMU, discovered kin relationships among Stone Age individuals buried in megalithic tombs on Ireland and in Sweden.

9. Face Lab wins Research Team of the Year

   Liverpool John Moores University’s Face Lab has scooped the 2019 Educate North Research Team of the Year Award, for its innovative techniques in craniofacial identification and forensic art.

10. Meet Renske Smit, latest researcher to join the Astrophysics Research Institute
