1. Professor & Reader Conferment 2019 – Call for Female Applications

   Each year applications are invited for the conferment of Professorships and Readerships and the process for 2019 is now open.

2. Diwali 2019 starts on Sunday 27th October and lasts for five days

   Diwali is the famous festival of lights, when families and friends get together to feast and celebrate. The five day festival begins on Sunday 27th October 2019; each day has its own individual meaning and associated celebration. The third day of Diwali is regarded as the most important day. Diwali literally means a ‘row of Lights’. It is a celebration of light! It is a time filled with light and love. The festival does not follow the Gregorian but rather the Hindu calendar known as ‘Tithi,’ which is a lunar calendar. We would like to wish all our students and staff community who celebrate this festival a very happy Diwali!

3. World Mental Health Day 2019

   World Mental Health Day on October the 10th is the annual global celebration of mental health education, awareness and advocacy. Throughout the week starting Monday 7th– Friday 11th October LJMU Student Advice and Wellbeing Services will be delivering a range of activities and raising awareness to celebrate good mental health and encourage us all to look at what we can do to maintain and promote positive wellbeing.

4. Jane Garvey Honorary Fellowship

   Read the oration for Jane Garvey in the presentation of her award as an Honorary Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University.

5. Professor Alison Ewing is announced as winner of the UKCPA Lifetime Achievement Award 2018

   The UK Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA) recently presented their prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for 2018 to Professor Alison Ewing.

6. Arts and Humanities Research Council awards LJMU £250,000

   LJMU researchers are to help regenerate post-industrial sites of China after successfully bidding for £250,000 funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

7. Graduation review - Friday 23 November 2018

8. School of Nursing and Allied Health receives £250,000 from ESRC

   The School of Nursing and Allied Health has been awarded £250,000 from the prestigious Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) for a project which will examine the rights of healthcare practitioners in relation to abortion.

9. Students raise £10,290 for Student Minds

   Final year undergraduates have raised £10,290 for Student Minds by completing the National Student Survey, well on the way to our £12,000 fundraising target.

10. Politicians and teachers have the power to change the world if they can learn to work together

    Baroness of Yardley Estelle Morris discussed the relationship between education and politics as the latest guest speaker in the LJMU Roscoe lecture series.
