1. Join LJMU at Liverpool Pride

   Liverpool Pride takes place on Saturday 30 July and LJMU are inviting all staff, students and friends to join us at the July event.

2. Mind the GaP!

   Time is rapidly running out for Principal Investigators to be trained on the new Grants and Projects (GaP) system. It has been agreed by the University that any bids for external funding (research and enterprise activity) from April 2020 will need to be set up by the Principal Investigator on the GaP system, so its important that you book onto training ASAP.

3. Law school run half marathon for Whitechapel Centre

   Eight students and staff from the School of Law laced up their trainers and ran the Liverpool half marathon on Sunday 27 March, in aid of local homeless and housing charity the Whitechapel Centre.

4. Let’s Talk About Disability Workshop (Virtual) - Tips For Supporting Staff/Students With Disabilities & Long-Term Health Conditions Including Mental Health

   This is an opportunity for LJMU/JMSU Managers, Programme Leaders and Personal Tutors (those directly responsible for staff/students) to participate in a half day (three hour) virtual, Lets Talk About Disability Workshop in order to gain tips for supporting staff/students with disabilities & long-term health conditions including mental health.

5. #IDPD2019 - new development opportunities for staff

   LJMU to launch new Mental Health Awareness development opportunities for all staff in January 2020.

6. AI can spot wounded wild animals and poachers in camera trap footage

   AI from Liverpool John Moores University is being used to identify animals, plot their movements and spot wounds in a bid to help conservationists, reports New Scientist.

7. Thesis Boot Camp

   PGRs attended 2 day residential writing event, at Gladstone's Library in Wales.

8. LJMU produced films to be shown at COP26 in Glasgow

   LJMU films of how fast rising sea levels impact island communities will be shown to delegates at Glasgow COP26 next week.

9. Residential Success for Children in Care

   LJMU welcomed 25 young people in care to their annual Year 10 Residential aimed at giving the Year 10 students a real taste of life at University.

10. Scheme helps LJMU employ more local people of colour

    A new scheme, Positive Action Training (PAT), helping local people of colour enter employment at LJMU has been launched by the Vice-Chancellor (interim).
