2. Your new Staff Governor Emily Walker

   Following a fortnight-long election period, Emily received the majority of votes out of the five self-nominated candidates to represent Professional Services, and will now serve on the Board for the next three years.

3. Vice-Chancellor appointed Chairman of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic

   LJMU Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Professor Nigel Weatherill, has been appointed Chairman of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. The announcement of Professor Weatherill’s appointment as Chair for an initial three-year term has been made following approval of the recommendation by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Board of Directors.

4. Sports and Exercise Science student coaches at Strongest Woman Competition

   Student Laura Dye, 32, has coached Rebecca Roberts to victory as placed second at the Arnold Strongwoman Competition in Ohio, USA.

6. Art on Merseyside celebrated on campus

   LJMU hosted charity Arts Friends Merseyside in recognition of the organisation’s dedication to the arts in the region, while celebrating LJMU's art collections.

7. 300 children's horizons widened by Christmas Space Lecture

   STARRY-EYED schoolchildren from across Merseyside enjoyed the Liverpool Space Lecture yesterday.

   LJMU has won a major award from the regional construction industry.

10. Sport science students make an impact with nearly 15,000 hours of placements

    From community sports clubs that support people with special educational needs to premier league football clubs, 173 students have undertaken 14,730 hours of work-based placements this academic year.
