The third Chancellor of LJMU, Cherie Booth championed the university locally and further afield, a keen advocate of our ambition to give students real-world experience as a preparation for employment beyond study.
Liverpool John Moores University joined the Athena SWAN charter in 2014 and was first presented with an Institutional Bronze award in 2014, in recognition of ongoing work relating to gender equality. Since then, LJMU had a second successful submission of their Institutional Bronze award in 2017.
The School of Nursing and Advanced Practice has invested £1.6 million in developing professional-standard clinical practice suites and enhanced teaching spaces, discover the facilities for nurses and other health students.
The Electric Machines and Drives Research Group conducts research into: variable-speed electric drive systems, electrical power generation plants for renewable energy sources and power electronic converters for interfacing the variable-speed drives and generators.

From geology lecturer to Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, Clare joined the polytechnic as it prepared to become a university and has followed the journey of LJMU from its beginnings in the early 1990s to present day. She is passionate about the transformative power of education.
