2. Law Students Take Part in Mock Employment Tribunal Event

   As part of LJMU's School of Law ethos to provide students with career-shaping opportunities, students recently participated in a mock employment tribunal at Liverpool Town Hall. The event allowed students to experience the inner workings of an Employment Tribunal and observe the skills and knowledge needed as they progress towards their careers in the legal sector. The students were able to experience a simulated trial thanks to the teams at Brabners, 9 St John Street Chambers and Adaptable Recruitment.

3. degree apprenticeships

   LJMU is set to expand its successful degree apprenticeship programmes after being awarded significant new funding. The university has received £1m from the Office for Students’ national fund to support level 6 degree apprenticeships.

4. Call for staff support for LJMU's Armed Forces Steering Group

   The steering group would like more colleagues from across the university to get involved with their work.

5. Eight students compete in Archon University Fitness League

   Eight LJMU students took part in an Archon Fittest Universities Event in Birmingham earlier this month, with student Jordan McCarthy placing first across the leaderboard in the STRONG category.

   In a recent report by HEFCE on Sector-leading innovative practice in advancing equality and diversity, LJMU was commended for the number and range of events and initiatives focusing on equality and diversity issues.

8. Researching the kingfisher’s iconic hydrodynamic design

   Renowned for their noiseless dive, the kingfisher’s iconic beak-shape has inspired the design of high speed bullet trains. Now scientists have tested beak-shape among some of the birds’ 114 species found world-wide, to assess which shape is the most hydrodynamic.

9. The Cube Sea Air and Wrecks New Paintings by John Hyatt

   Dark Side Art Lab and The Cube are the first projects from The Dark Side.

10. Vice-Chancellor receives Maritime Ambassadors Award

    LJMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Weatherill has been recognised by Mersey Maritime for his commitment to securing the future of the Liverpool City Region Maritime Sector.
